Individuals aiming to establish a micro, small, or medium enterprise have the option to register online through the Udyam Registration portal. This registration process is based on self-declaration, eliminating the need to submit any documents, papers, certificates, or proofs. The enterprise undergoing this process is referred to as "Udyam," and the registration process itself is termed 'Udyam Registration.' Here are some essential points to note regarding Udyam Registration. -

  1. All existing enterprises registered under MSME shall register again on the Udyam Registration portal on or after the 1st day of July, 2020
  2. All enterprises registered till 30th June,2020, shall be reclassified in accordance with this notification.
  3. MSME registration process is fully online, paperless and based on self-declaration.
  4. This certificate will have a dynamic QR Code from which the web page on the Portal and details about the enterprise can be accessed.
  5. A permanent registration number will be given after registration.
  6. The user will need to provide their 12-digit Aadhaar Number, Pan Card and Bank Account details of Business for the registration process.

Following are the classifications under Udyam -

Enterprises Investment in Plant & Machinery/ Equipment Turnover in Plant & Machinery/ Equipment
Micro Enterprises Does not exceed 1 Crore Does not exceed 5 Crore
Small Enterprises Does not exceed 10 Crore Does not exceed 50 Crore
Medium Enterprises Does not exceed 50 Crore Does not exceed 250 Crore

  1. For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME -
    1. Aadhaar number shall be required for Udyam Registration.
    2. The Aadhaar number shall be of the proprietor in the case of a proprietorship firm, of the managing partner in the case of a partnership firm and of a karta in the case of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).
    3. In case of a Company or a Limited Liability Partnership or a Cooperative Society or a Society or a Trust, the organisation or its authorised signatory shall provide its GSTIN and PAN along with its Aadhaar number.
  2. For those already having registration as EM-II or UAM -
    1. All existing enterprises registered under EM–Part-II or UAM shall register again on the Udyam Registration portal on or after the 1st day of July, 2020.
    2. OTP will be required for registration on mobile/ email as filled in UAM
